2019 Maritime RC Racing Offroad Series

Welcome to the 2019 Maritime RC Racing Offroad Series!!! The series is back after a long break.

The purpose of this series is to encourage racers to visit track locations around NB, PEI, and NS and to support those local clubs, meet other racers that share their same interest, share the fun of the hobby, and share tips and tricks that make these race RC’s go faster! The track owners are hoping the introduction of a cross track race series is enjoyed by the participating racers so we hope to see everyone there!!!

The Maritime Series will run on top of existing scheduled races where applicable. For example, the race in Cap-Pele will count toward their local 6 race series plus count toward the Maritime series. Another example is the Maritime Series race in Blackfly will also be their season kick-off race they would normally schedule. The reasoning for this is we do not want to add additional races to an already packed summer racing schedule when possible because of the travel commitments of a cross track series.

MRCR Offroad Series Schedule:

The series will be held at 4 different locations, with at least 2 weeks between series events.

Race Format:

The format of the MRCR Offroad race series is a best 3 results of 4 race series with 1 race held at each of the 4 participating tracks. A race day will start at 11am and finish around 6pm to allow for racers being able to travel to the track, get some practice in at the new track, and complete the race in a single day.

Series Points can be found here!

A race day will comprise of:

  • an open practice time from track open until before race start,
  • a drivers meeting to welcome the drivers and explain the rules for the day,
  • 3 Qualifiers (per class) of a minimum of 5 minute duration,
  • racers will seed into the finals using their fastest qualifying round
  • Depending on the number of racers, the class will be broken into A, B, C … finals.
  • Each final will have up to 10 racers (up to registrations and track owner)
  • Bump ups are encouraged, with lower level mains being run first to allow bump-ups to prepare for the next final
  • 1 Final race (per class) of a minimum of 5 minute duration (most tracks elect for a 7 minute A-final)

Pricing

The pricing will be the same across each of the 4 races.

  • The first class will be $20
  • The second class will be $5
  • And the third class will be $5
  • To a max of $30
  • Rental transponders will be $10 at the track and must be returned after the race is completed

Awards and Prizes

  • Each race day will have a variety of door prizes available, typically handed out by draw. The number of door prizes will be variable by event depending on the sponsors and donations received.
  • Each race day will present an award for Top Qualifier for each class.
  • Each race day will present an award for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd finisher in the final race
  • For the overall series each class will present an award for 1st, 2nd, 3rd in each class (maybe top 5 depending on the turnout), determined using the racers best 3 of 4 race finish points

Series Points

Series points will be awarded following the LiveRC standard points system which has been used successfully in series races in the maritimes for several years where:

  • 1st is awarded 100 points
  • 2nd is awarded 97 points
  • 3rd is awarded 95 points
  • 4th is awarded 94 points…
  • and each position following the points are decreased by 1 until the last racer
  • TQ in each class is awarded 2 extra points which are added to the racers race day total

Classes

  • Each track is encouraged to run the series classes, as well as classes that are supported in their local area.
  • For a class to be counted as part of the overall series points is must be run at 3 of the 4 track locations.
  • For a class to be run on a race day there must be a minimum of 4 driver entries per class. Track owners will do their best to accommodate an RC that does not have enough entries by putting the RC into another class that seems appropriate. In this case the RC will not count in the points but will still be able to run and enjoy the race.
  • It must be understood that not all classes will be run at all tracks. These tracks are owned by track owners and their locations are at times in close proximity to neighbors who may have noise constraints.
  • Each track owner will include the classes they will run in their event advertising so racers can plan what vehicles to bring to the race location.

The classes that currently are considered to be Maritime series classes are:

  • 1/10 2wd buggy, open motor, 2 cell lipo
  • 1/10 2wd SCT, open motor, 2 cell lipo
  • 1/10 4wd SCT, open motor, 2 cell lipo
  • 1/8 E-Buggy, open motor, 4 cell lipo
  • 1/8 E-Truggy, open motor, 4 cell lipo
  • 1/8 Nitro Buggy
  • 1/8 Nitro Truggy

Note: Our classes are considered to follow ROAR rules for our RC classes. The main rule we enforce is the battery size per class. For the rest of the rules  we consider them ‘open classes’ in which the racer can use the motor/esc/chassis/tires of choice as long as the items are intended for the chosen model. For example, a 2wd buggy would not be allowed to run SCT wheels/tires as the parts are not intended for the model. Before the race begins the cars will be tech inspected to verify the RCs conform to the spirit of the class it is entered in.

Food/Beverages

  • Each track owner is encouraged to have some form of canteen available on site.
  • Lunch break will be 1/2 hour, in an attempt to keep the day short.
  • There are food locations reasonably close to the tracks in case the racer wants to stock up on snackage.
