The 1st race of the Cap-Pele Revolution Raceway Offroad Series was held May 19th. This race kicked off a new year of summer offroad racing. The morning started with a sunny/muggy day, and through the day it became more overcast but we were able to get in all 3 qualifiers and the finals. A new layout was made for this year. and it proved to be challenging but still fast, with laptimes increasing about 1-2 seconds from last year.

We welcomed many 1st time racers to the race scene including Marten Doucet, Jopher Sarigumba, Cole Leblanc, Keven Leblanc, and Jesse Bell. Looking forward to more new racers coming out and enjoying the fun.

1/10 2wd Buggy A-Main: RESULTS

1st: Gregg Lawton, 2nd: Kyle McKinnon, 3rd: Stephane Doucet

2wd Buggy proved to be very challenging on the new track layout. The sets of doubles are tough to make and any wind can upset the cars easily. In this race Gregg and Kyle battled for 1st place for half the race. After a couple lead changes Gregg was able to make the pass and hold on for the win with Kyle finishing comfortably in 2nd. 3rd place was hotly contested with Gordon, Stephane, Mark, and Jeremy all holding the position through the race. Stephane, who started from the 8th spot, finished the race strong and took 3rd in the end.

1/10 2wd Buggy B-Main: RESULTS

In the 2wd buggy B-Main, the top 4 spots would move to the A-Main to offer some challenge and reward to the drivers. When the dust settled we found Jonny, Stephane, Gislain, and Shane would make the bump to the A. Sorry Reg, if I had have noticed we would have brought you up too …. 😉

1/10 2wd SCT A-Main: RESULTS

1st: Kyle McKinnon, 2nd: Jeremy Sherriff, 3rd: Eric D’Amours

In 2wd SCT the old pros of Kyle, Jeremy, and Eric showed they have kept their skills fresh over the winter season and finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd. (No picture retakes Jeremy!) Jopher and Jesse were participating in their first race and had a good finish on the challenging track. Sam is a returning rookie and he was able to improve on his qualifying position to move up to 5th.

1/10 4wd SCT A-Main: RESULTS

1st: Shane Foote, 2nd: Gregg Lawton, 3rd: Gislain Leblanc

4wd SCT is always a popular class, and this race was no exception. At the start of the race Gregg had a bad opening lap and fell to 3rd. This gave Shane a chance at the first spot, and he made the most of it having an excellent run to finish 1st. Gislain jumped up from 5th to 2nd early in the race, and then fell back to 3rd and held it for the rest of the race. Gregg would recover from 3rd to take 2nd, but just didn’t have the pace to challenge for the lead.

1/10 4wd SCT B-Main: RESULTS

The 4wd SCT class had enough racers to run an A & B main. The top 3 racers from the B main would bump to the A, which gave the racers a goal to reach for. Eric, Reg, and ‘track owner'(George) would all battle for the bump spots. Eric and George would battle back and forth for the top spot, with Eric taking the top spot in the end. Notable was ‘Mr Last Place’ finished 4th.

1/8 E-Buggy A-Main: RESULTS

1st: Stephane Doucet, 2nd: Shane Foote, 3rd: Mark McKinnon

1/8 Buggy was a very intense race. By the time the 1/8 Buggys race came up, the track had changed quite a bit from earlier in the day and the double jumps were more of a challenge for the cars. At the tone Shane and Mark got a clean start and got a little distance on the group. Mark had some troubles in the doubles and fell to 4th, but was able to recover the 3rd spot and held that to the end. Stephane improved on his 3rd place qualification to take 1st, and he was able to run clean and hold the spot till the final tone. Shane dropped to 2nd, and he was able to keep just enough distance from Mark to avoid any direct challenge to hold the spot.

1/8 E-Truggy A-Main: RESULTS

1st: Shane Foote, 2nd: Stephane Doucet, 3rd: Chris Flewelling

In 1/8 Truggy Stephane and Shane had a great back and forth race for 1st until Stephane had a wreck which changed the handling of his truggy and stopped the fun. Shane finished 1st with Stephane finishing 2nd. Chris had a very consistent race (98.72%) and finished 3rd.
