2020 Restigouche RC Raceway: Inaugural Race

The first race ever held at the Restigouche RC Raceway was held October 3, 2020. The track is owned and operated by Trevor Furlotte, who has worked on this track over the summer to bring it from an idea to a reality hosting the first race. The race was well attended with 13 drivers with 32 entries. Racers from the area came to break in the new track, along with racers from as far away as Fredericton and PEI.

It was a cool and overcast day for this first race. It had rained the night before and the track was quite sticky early in the day, but was slowly drying through the day. The design of the track seemed to promote very close racing. We saw a lot of firsts this day with the first race at the track, the first vintage race in the Maritimes in many years, Guy Hache’s first race win, and Samara Ford’s first race ever!

Thanks to the racers who came to make it a great event, and to Trevor for building a new track in the Campbellton area and hosting the first race with many more to come. First event was successful due to all of the support and help from our RC community. Special thanks to Reg, Stephane, David, and Patrick.

Special Presentation:

From Stephane:

Saturday morning, just before the drivers meeting, we surprised Guy with the short course truck. The racers in his local club at Blackfly got together and bought him a Tekno SCT in good condition to replace the truck he was using that was completely worn out. The truck came with 2 conditions: do well at school and practice with us when we go on the track!

He drove really well with his new truck in the quals and did the 3rd best time. In the mains he started good, and was battling against William for the lead when William crashed about mid race. Guy was then able to grab his first ever win, and I think he is still sitting on a cloud tonight!!!

Hats off to the local racers who made this young racers day!
